How to Make a Wholesale Line Sheet

When a shop asks for your prices, a line sheet is what you send. It is a plain, one-page price list that lets a buyer place an order without asking you a single question.

What a line sheet is for

A catalogue sells the look of your products. A line sheet sells the order. Buyers use it to check prices, work out their own margin and fill in a purchase order, so it should be quick to read and easy to print.

What to put on it

Your business name, contact email and the date, so the buyer knows the prices are current.

For each product: the name, a product code, the wholesale price, the suggested retail price, and the size or pack quantity it is sold in.

Your terms: the minimum order, how long orders take to ship, how you take payment, and what happens with damaged goods.

Setting the prices

Set the wholesale price from your landed cost and the margin you need. Then check the suggested retail price is about double the wholesale price, because many shops look to keep about half.

Keep your own retail price the same as the suggested retail price. A shop will not stock a product that its customers can buy from you for less.

Keep it up to date

A line sheet with old prices costs you money or costs you the order. Build it from the same product list you price from, so that when a cost changes, the line sheet changes with it.
